$DOG are runes securing “Rune #3” through Ordinals Protocol. Story of $DOG began with the “Runestone”. Runestone is the largest inscriptions ever mined. In order to promote the wide distribution of Runestones, the auctions start to hold. Proceeds from the auction were used to pay for airdrops by early adopters of the Ordinals Protocol. Along with this airdrop, $DOG came into being.
