a16z Crypto Funds Still Have Billions to Deploy, Says Co-Founder Chris Dixon

Chris Dixon, co-founder of a16z, said in an interview that Crypto fund 4, the latest $4.5 billion crypto fund launched by a16z, is only less than 50% deployed, with the majority of the fund still undeployed. The fund was launched in May of this year, with $1.5 billion in seed investments and $3 billion in venture investments.

Dixon said the funds have kept 95% of everything they've ever invested in. "All of our data shows that the vast majority of the returns come in the later years of the funds, and the worst thing you can do in venture capital is sell good assets too early," Dixon said.
