Aave's New Proposal Suggests Pausing $ETH Borrowing Before Ethereum Merge

Lending Protocol Aave's community has released a new proposal to pause $ETH borrowing in the period leading up to the Ethereum Merge to mitigate the risk of high utilization of the $ETH market during this period. The proposal will be voted on from 16:15 UTC on August 30th to 16:15 UTC on September 2nd. According to the proposal, the risk of high utilization in the $ETH market is driven by users potentially benefiting from the forked PoW $ETH ($ETHW) by borrowing ETH before the merge, further increasing the chances of insolvency for the protocol.
