The Argentine Agency for Access to Public Information (AAIP) announced earlier this week that it had started an investigation against Worldcoin on its way to processing personal data, and would analyze the processes and practices used for the collection, storage, and use of personal data to ascertain the legality of the project.
In Argentina, Worldcoin conducts iris scanning services in five regions, including the capital city of Buenos Aires. According to AAIP, "it is the obligation of those responsible for data processing to have their databases registered with the AAIP, provide information about their treatment policy, indicate what they require sensitive data for and what the processing time is, as well as detailing the security and confidentiality measures that are applied to safeguard personal information."
Currently, Worldcoin is under investigation in multiple countries. Last week, the Kenyan government suspended Worldcoin's operation in the country, and the Kenyan police raided its office in Nairobi, confiscating documents and machines for data collecting. In addition, regulatory agencies in Germany, France, and the UK are also investigating Worldcoin.
