Axie Infinity Plans to Move Toward Community Governance and Decentralization in Three Phases

Axie Infinity has issued a paper stating that leaving treasury funds in the hands of the community at this time could be detrimental to the project, as there are still a number of unresolved technical and social governance coordination challenges. Axie Infinity therefore released the path to governance decentralization. In the first phase, the Sky Mavis team managed product development and made key product decisions based on community feedback and input; funded a number of early experimental projects through an eco-fund; and organized committees around key thematic components such as gaming, economic balance, and cultural development. An Axie game with more than 10 million DAU will move into Phase 2 after having 6 consecutive months or 8 out of 12 months with an average weekly growth rate of 5%; and after having at least 3 external teams, in addition to Sky Mavis, developing games on Axie Infinity with more than 100,000 DAU. In the second phase, Sky Mavis will decide on certain key decisions through community governance, manage the eco-fund in part through the community, and make proposals related to the use of the community treasury. In the final phase, Axie Infinity will complete the deployment of the eco-fund, open the community treasury proposal to the community and potentially draft an Axie constitution to enable decentralization and community governance.
