Aztec Network Announces Sunset of Aztec Connect

Ethereum privacy solution Aztec announced the sunset of Aztec Connect, its DeFi privacy bridge.

One week from today, deposits into the Aztec Connect contract both from zk.money and other front-ends like zkpay.finance will be disabled. Users will continue being able to withdraw with no fees for one year. The final sunset date for Aztec Connect is expected to be March 21, 2024.

As of today, Aztec has fully open sourced the entire Aztec Connect protocol complete with scaling upgrades and a new secure SDK. The team encourages the Aztec community to fork, deploy, and operate a new version of the system. Aztec is ready to fund the independently-operated Aztec Connect. The second wave of Aztec grants program is coming up in April, and it will fund community-run infrastructure then.

Moving forward, the Aztec team's mid- and long-term focus will be on the development of the Noir language and the next-generation crypto blockchain, which will be compatible and interconnected with each other.
