According to the offical announcement, the brc-20 swap is inscription-based, operating within the boundaries of Bitcoin blockchain. The "native" means that it is not a bridging solution, not side-chain, and not layer 2.
The swap is designed to be technically capable of being compatible with existing brc20 variations, and team is now assessing the advantages and risks associated with supporting these variations.
