Coinbase to Start Taking $ETH Unstaking Requests 24 Hours after Shanghai Upgrade Completes

Coinbase released an announcement regarding the Ethereum Shanghai and Capella upgrade, saying that the exchange will start taking unstaking requests about 24 hours after the upgrade completes.

The Shanghai upgrade will allow users to unstake their $ETH. Coinbase said that no action is required during the upgrade. If users want to withdraw their staked $ETH, Coinbase will begin taking unstaking requests about 24 hours after the upgrade completes. The unstaking process is controlled by the Ethereum protocol and processed on-chain, and Coinbase will work simply as a conduit connecting users. The exchange can't decide how long it will take to process the unstaking requests. Once the Ethereum protocol finishes processing, Coinbase will send the unstaked $ETH and staking rewards to the users.

The Shanghai upgrade is being tested on three testnets, Zhejiang, Sepolia and Goerli. At a meeting on Thursday, the Ethereum core developers will set a date for the mainnet upgrade.
