Ethereum Researcher Reveals Staking $ETH Reveals User IP Address

A recent revelation by an Ethereum Foundation researcher has sparked concerns over the privacy of Ether stakers. Justin Drake, the researcher, disclosed in an interview that staking Ether reveals a user's IP address information, among other metadata.

“There’s a lot of metadata, you can look at deposit addresses, you can look at withdrawal addresses, you can look at fee recipients, you can look at IP addresses.” Drake explained

Drake stated that he learned about this internally, presumably at the Ethereum Foundation. The disclosure has raised alarm bells in the cryptocurrency community, with some flagging Ethereum for privacy concerns.

Some twitter users suggested Ethereum users take on-chain privacy responsibilities into their own hands by installing a Linux operating system, using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) and storing cryptoassets on a hardware wallet
