Etherscan Launches AI-powered Code Reader to Interpret Smart Contract

Etherscan, the Ethereum block explorer and analytics platform, has launched a new tool called "Code Reader." The tool employs artificial intelligence to retrieve and interpret the source code of a particular contract address.

Code Reader utilizes OpenAI's large language model to generate responses, providing insights into the contract's source code files. To use the tool, users need a valid OpenAI API key and sufficient OpenAI usage limits. The tool's tutorial page states that Code Reader does not store users' API keys.

Code Reader has a wide range of use cases, including gaining deeper insight into contracts' code through AI-generated explanations, obtaining comprehensive lists of smart contract functions related to Ethereum data, and understanding how the underlying contract interacts with decentralized applications. Users can choose a specific source code file to read through once the contract files are retrieved. Additionally, users can modify the source code directly inside the UI before sharing it with the AI.

This new tool is expected to provide developers and researchers with a more efficient way to analyze Ethereum smart contracts, as well as offer a streamlined approach to understanding the inner workings of decentralized applications.
