Former Ethereum Developer Virgil Griffith May Face 63 to 78 Months in Prison

Former Ethereum developer Virgil Griffith will go on trial in New York court on April 12. Griffith's plea deal may let him face 63 to 78 months (about 5 to 6.5 years) in prison, and the government has also asked the judge to impose a fine of up to $1 million to deter him and others from "similar conduct in the future." Previously, Virgil Griffith was arrested in 2019 after giving a speech on crypto and blockchain technology in North Korea and later being charged with violating the U.S. Sanctions Act against North Korea.
