Helium Network Set to Migrate to Solana on March 27

The Helium Foundation, a leading provider of decentralized wireless networks, has announced the migration of the Helium Network to the Solana blockchain, set to take place on March 27, 2023.

The migration is expected to enable the Helium Network to achieve greater scale and become a network of networks. With Solana's capability of processing thousands of transactions per second and an ecosystem of developers, applications, and integrations, the Helium community can focus on building wireless protocols and enabling utility on these networks. The migration to Solana has been enabled by the community passing HIP-70 and introducing several solutions to scaling the Helium network.

The migration will encompass all wallets, Hotspots, and Helium Network state and will take place over a 24-hour transition period commencing at approximately 1500 UTC / 10:00 AM ET. Hotspot Owners and token holders will not need to take any action to participate in the upgrade.

The Helium Network is a decentralized wireless Internet of Things (IoT) network. The network consists of nodes that are generally owned and placed by individuals in their homes or offices. They are rewarded for their participation in the network with payments of $HNT. The Helium Network blockchain is now an independent, open-source, public blockchain that incentivizes the creation of physical, decentralized wireless networks.
