Matter Labs Proposes Deployment of $wstETH on zkSync Era

Matter Labs, the developer of zkSync, released a proposal in the Lido governance forum, proposing to deploy $wstETH on the zkSync Era mainnet, with the ultimate goal of acceptance of ownership of the $wstETH bridging components by the Lido DAO.

According to Matter Labs, the zkSync Era ecosystem has a significant demand for $wstETH, which will bring novel use cases to the DeFi ecosystem on the network. Matter Labs will collaborate with TxFusion to design, implement, and deploy the $wstETH bridge between Ethereum and zkSync Era. The bridge will be owned by the Lido DAO on Ethereum. As a result, no actions or modifications can be executed on the bridge without the explicit approval of the Lido DAO on the Layer1.

The proposal will be discussed by the Lido community before going through a voting process.
