Mina Unveils Multi-Year Roadmap to Unlock the Decentralized Web with Zero Knowledge

Mina Protocol has released its multi-year roadmap, aimed at unlocking the decentralized web through zero knowledge. Mina is a zk-native L1 blockchain that allows for efficient verification and trustless zero knowledge programmability. Mina Protocol launched its mainnet in 2021 and it aims to enable improved zkApp programmability on its mainnet this year, which will allow for true ZK programmability for users and developers.

The roadmap is broken down into five tracks, including Trust Minimization, ZK-Programmability, Settlement Layer Performance, Recursive Rollups, and Road to DAOification. The tracks aim to make Mina the ultimate layer one blockchain and explore the potential of ZK programmability.

Trust minimisation will insulate the protocol from attacks and biases from centralisation and add decentralised data storage to Mina's feature set. ZK programmability will build a better ZK programmable layer on Mina through scalable authentication and zero-knowledge privacy. Settlement layer performance will optimise Mina's latency, ultimate certainty and throughput. De-trust bridging between chains will be achieved through recursive ZKP.

Mina is a L1 blockchain based on zero-knowledge proofs with smart contracts written in TypeScript. Mina is a "lightweight" smart contract platform with aspirations to be a global payment system.
