SEC to Expand Crypto Asset and Cyber Enforcement Units

The SEC announced the allocation of 20 additional positions for the unit responsible for protecting investors in crypto markets and from cyber-related threats. The newly renamed Crypto Assets and Cyber Division of Enforcement will increase to 50 dedicated positions, and SEC Chairman Gary Gensler said that with this expansion of the division, the SEC will be better equipped to regulate wrongdoing in the crypto market while continuing to identify disclosure and control issues related to cybersecurity.
