Serum: Program on Mainnet Becomes Defunct, Fork OpenBook Available to Use

Solana-based DEX Serum released an update regarding the future of the project, saying that the Serum program on mainnet became defunct following the collapse of Alameda and FTX. Users can use OpenBook, a fork of Serum.

Serum said, "as upgrade authority is held by FTX, security is in jeopardy, leading to protocols like Jupiter Exchange and Raydium moving away from Serum." OpenBook, a Solana community-led fork of Serum, is live on mainnet, and "users and protocols are safe using an alternative fork such as Openbook".

As for $SRM, Serum said the future is uncertain. "There are proposals from the community suggesting it to still be used for discounts and other proposals to not use it at all because of the exposure that FTX/Alameda have."
