Singapore Will Limit Crypto Trading to Professional Investors Only and Not Allow Crypto Advertising to Retail Investors

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) will prohibit marketing and advertising crypto services to local retail consumers, the Blockchain Association of Singapore (BAS) said, adding that companies will be allowed to advertise to accredited institutional investors if they can demonstrate that they are targeting only the institutional investor community. Firms can sponsor events that are held outside of Singapore but broadcast locally, as well as live events, as long as they do not include retail consumers. B2B advertising (including press releases and announcements that do not promote crypto transactions) is also permitted.
