Sui: Testnet Has 100 Globally Distributed Validators, Peak Throughput of Nearly 300,000 TPS

Layer 1 blockchain network Sui has conducted a series of tests to determine the current peak throughput and transaction latency for various workloads. The current Sui testnet has 100 globally distributed validators, achieving a peak throughput of 10,871 TPS to 297,000 TPS on various workloads. The transaction latency of Sui is approximately 480 milliseconds. Sui will later optimize in aspects such as "scalability and coverage of benchmark testing tools" and "horizontal scalability to support internal expansion of validators across multiple machines."

Transactions Per Second (TPS) for a blockchain refers to the number of transactions that a blockchain network can process and validate within one second. It is a key performance metric used to evaluate the efficiency, scalability, and capacity of a blockchain system to handle a large volume of transactions.

The TPS of a blockchain network depends on various factors, including the consensus mechanism, block size, block time, and network latency. Different blockchain networks have different TPS rates. For example, Bitcoin has a TPS of around 3-7 transactions per second, while Ethereum can handle approximately 15-45 transactions per second.
