Sui Testnet Wave 1 Goes Live

Sui Network, the Layer1 public chain developed by Mysten Labs, announced the launch of Sui Testnet Wave 1 with a focus on independent validators. Testnet Wave 1 will run for approximately two to three weeks. It is the first instance of Sui Network working with a non-Mysten Labs operators and a major step towards a decentralized Sui Mainnet. 

Under Sui Devnet, Mysten Labs operates four validators to verify transactions on the network. Testnet Wave 1 includes third-party validators and Full Nodes selected from its open application process, including a total of 20 validators and about 500 nodes, but data may be wiped as part of a software updates. And Wave 2 will focus on epoch management, tokenomics, and stake delegation. 

In addition, Sui Network said that there are no current plans for a $SUI airdrop, and interacting with the Testnet will not win users any prizes.
