Tether Holds Firm on Decision Not to Freeze Tornado Cash Addresses, Awaits Law Enforcement Instruction

Tether released a statement regarding Tornado Cash, saying that it has not been contacted by US officials or law enforcement with a request to freeze the addresses sanctioned by OFAC, and no specific request has been put to Tether related to freezing relevant Tornado Cash addresses. As a result, Tether will hold firm on the decision not to freeze Tornado Cash related addresses, and awaits instructions from law enforcement. Tether also said that unilaterally freezing secondary market addresses could be a highly disruptive and reckless move.
