Twitter Data Breach Exposes Contact Details for 5.4M Accounts
The Twitter data breach gave attackers access to the contact information of 5.4 million accounts, and Twitter has now confirmed the existence of the security flaw. The hackers exploited a Twitter vulnerability that was validated in January, and while Twitter has patched the vulnerability, the database obtained from the breach is now allegedly being sold by a new user on Breached Forums for $30,000.
It is reported that the attacker obtained existing databases of phone numbers and email addresses obtained in breaches of other services, and then used these details to search for corresponding Twitter IDs.
