The US Federal prosecutors wrote a letter to US District Court Judge Lewis Kaplan on Friday, asking him to modify the conditions of SBF's bail to include a ban on private communications with current and former employees of FTX and Alameda Research.
Previously, SBF reached out to several FTX employees, including Ryne Miller, the current general counsel for FTX US. In the message sent to Miller, SBF said, "I would really love to reconnect and see if there’s a way for us to have a constructive relationship, use each other as resources when possible, or at least vet things with each other."
Ryne Miller is a future witness of the FTX case. The prosecutors claimed that SBF was attempting to influence the witness' potential testimony, so they requested tightening SBF's bail conditions. In addition, the prosecutors also asked the judge to prevent SBF from using any encrypted or ephemeral call or messaging application, including but not limited to Signal.
