Worldcoin, a crypto project co-created by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, announced the project is now live, with the launch of the $WLD token.
Worldcoin consists of a privacy-preserving digital identity World ID, a digital currency $WLD, and a wallet application World App. Users need to use the Orb, an iris scanning device, to verify that they are real and unique people to receive their World ID, and can then reserve their shares of $WLD. Those who have been verified will initially receive 25 $WLD, with periodic grants in the future.
Worldcoin is deployed on OP Mainnet, and its global sign-ups have surpassed 2 million. The Orb was introduced in Hong Kong on July 23rd and opened to the public on July 24th. Multiple crypto exchanges, including Binance, OKX and Bitget, have announced listing plans for $WLD.
