FAQs
Can I try out the API? Where can I find the documentation?
You can try our API product at https://api.tokeninsight.com, and we also provide a free trial API Key on the website. Of course, you can also use your own API Key.
Do I need API keys to access your Public API?
Yes, you need to provide your API Key to use our API product.
Where can I find my API key?
For any user who has registered a TokenInsight account, we provide a free API Key. After logging in to our website, you can click on the "API Key" which appears after clicking on your profile picture in the upper right corner to obtain it.
What is the ID that needs to be filled in when obtaining token/coin information? Is it the name of the token/coin?
Strictly speaking, the ID and name of a token/coin are not the same thing. The ID of a token/coin is a unique identifier designated for the token/coin in TokenInsight's database, and there are no duplicates. This is also true for exchanges. In most cases, the ID and name of a token/coin are the same, but there are exceptions. You can find the "Name", "Token Symbol", and "ID" information of all cryptocurrencies here: https://api.tokeninsight.com/reference/get_coins-list.
How frequently do the market data endpoints update?
The update frequency of different endpoints may not be the same. However, for most endpoints, their update frequency is between 1-10 minutes. Some endpoints have a higher update frequency, such as the price update frequency of the top cryptocurrencies, which is in seconds.
How far back is historical data?
Our historical cryptocurrency data goes back to 2014.
Are there any API Endpoints for market news in addition to cryptocurrency/exchange data?
Yes, we have developed API Endpoints for our market news and research content, which can be found here: https://api.tokeninsight.com/reference/get_news-list. In addition to APIs, we also provide an RSS feed for market news: https://api.tokeninsight.com/reference/rss.
How does API Call Credits work?
Your API Key usage is tracked not by the number of API calls, but by the amount of data points returned. Generally, there are two types: the first type consumes 1 Credit for each request made, while the second type consumes 1 Credit for every 300 data points returned. The Call Credits consumption rules for each endpoint are clearly stated in our documentation.

How quickly can I expect responses to support requests?
Our principle is to reply to you as soon as possible, but considering the actual workload, we usually contact you within 24 hours.
