Chainlink's official release introduces the long-term goals, roadmap and initial implementation plan for Chainlink Staking, which Chainlink says marks a 2.0 era for Chainlink's economic model and is built around long-term security and network economics.
Chainlink's four long-term goals are as follows: to improve crypto-economic security and user assurance for Chainlink's oracle service; to incentivize community participation in the Chainlink network; to generate sustainable returns from true long-term usage; and to enable node operators to obtain higher value jobs through staking.
The Chainlink Staking mechanism is expected to release its first v0.1 version later this year. v0.1 will focus on the introduction of a reputation framework and alert system, to which additional features, such as a slashing mechanism, will be added after full validation to enhance crypto-economic security. In addition, Chainlink will explore loss protection mechanisms in v2 to protect users from financial losses caused by service-level agreement (SLA) violations by the oracle network.
