Circle announced it has launched native $USDC on two Ethereum Layer2s, OP Mainnet and Base. The two versions of $USDC are officially issued by Circle and fully supported by Circle Account and Circle APIs. Users can purchase OP Mainnet $USDC and Base $USDC on Coinbase and withdraw the stablecoin to their wallets.
OP Mainnet and Base each have a different version of $USDC, $USDC.e (on OP Mainnet) and $USDbC (on Base), which are not issued by Circle.
Native $USDC is now live on 11 blockchains. Previously, Circle announced it would launch native $USDC on 6 chains during September and October. Apart from OP Mainnet and Base, Polygon PoS, Cosmos, Polkadot, and NEAR are also on the list.
